Are Bananas the new hope?

Posted July 16th, 2008 at 06:38 AM by BananaGurl
Hi guys, this is "Bananagurl". I just heard about this diet where if you eat a banana for breakfast (among other things) then it speeds up the weight loss. I hope that this blog keeps me on track while I go ahead with the Banana diet. Bon Voyage! I was
looking for a diet that is inexpensive because the current diet I am on costs a small fortune and its not working for me like I want it to. This Banana Diet sounds really interesting and easy cause you get a bunch of bananas which costs about 2 bucks (200yen) here in Japan, eat before 8pm....drink lukewarm water, and lay off the sweets. Also you dont have to exercise that much but personally I dont mind working up a sweat. It would be great if other people could join me on this diet! Peace!

might the credit crunch affect eating habits?

Posted October 10th, 2008 at 04:29 PM by
you may be aware of the ongoing financial crisis since its everywhere, many experts predict that the era of easy credit is gone. this has both good and bad; the good is that people will stop living beyond their means, the bad is that in the meantime even deserving applicants are being denied credit according to breadmarket.
I also think the credit crisis may have another unseen effect and that is change people's eating habits; when you go to the supermarket, vegetables are the cheapest item you can get, if people have to tighten their budgets, this might just be the motivation they need to cut out those expensive processed foods!

Here we go!!!

Posted October 20th, 2008 at 06:21 AM by
Okay so like many...I saw the Morning Banana Diet on Yahoo. And I have to try this!!! I purchased my bananas yesterday and I am preparing myself to start this lovely Monday morning. I am hoping to get on daily and post as much feedback as possible. Now...one thing. I hate bananas!!! I know it sounds very harsh...however texture is a thing with me. I have never been able to eat them...but things are a changing....I am hoping to take a liking to this yellow fruit. Wish me luck!!! I really want to reap the benefits of this diet.....I have a Marine Corp Ball that I need to attend on Nov. 11th. Does anyone know if cardio is okay with this diet???

Best of luck to all.

Posted November 9th, 2008 at 04:20 PM by debib399
I have been on so many, many different diets, but I liked this one because I love banana's. Does anyone have any feed back or advise for me. I'm new and would appreciate any feedback that any of you might have.

What if you have a cup of coffee first thing in the am, wait 30 min, and then have the banana & water? Anybody tried this? Will it interfere w/ the weight loss?

Day 5 -- still wondering how does this diet work!

Posted February 2nd, 2009 at 05:30 PM by
Updated February 2nd, 2009 at 11:49 PM by julie14a
I haven't weighted myself in a few days, so, I don't know if I've lost weight at all. I have to admit that I haven't been following the diet as strictly as I should. I do eat bananas for breakfast and I drink a lot of water. However, it's hard for me to eat before 8pm every night, completely cut out dessert, and to go to sleep by 12.

I'm trying though. I forced myself to go to bed by 12 these two days. I started reading to get myself to sleep. I am also gradually cutting down on dessert! So, Wish me luck!!

Until this point, I still don't understand how exactly does this diet work. Some say it's the enzymes & fiber in bananas that improve digestion and bowel movement. Some say that it's the potassium that regulates bodily fluid and increases metabolic rate. Some say that potassium helps calcium absorption and calcium is the actual chemical that makes this diet work...

Judging from the dieters' blogs, a friend of mine pointed out that most of the people succeeding on the diet are ones with relatively poor lifestyles and/or eating habits to begin with. She thinks that the diet works because it's just a healthy way of living. I agree with her on this. Think about it, eating plenty of fruits, drinking plenty of water, and having enough sleepy are all good for us. Even the health professionals would agree, right?

At this point, I am just curious to see if this diet works for me. I have a relatively healthy lifestyle -- except for the sleepying part. I eat a lot of veggie. I don't eat fast food. I go whole grain if possible. I also exercise 2 to 3 times a week. If this diet works for me, I assume it's the physiological effects that make it work. If it doesn't work for me, then it's the healthy lifestyle and eating habit part of this diet that that make it work. We will see!!
