I used to drink 3-4 cups of sencha everyday. I think it boosts metabolism, and helps clear and calm the mind, as well as the body. Are we not allowed to drink any tea?
TIA!

Ironically (since it's a Japanese diet), they don't seem to allow tea (or coffee), or any beverage except beer (or wine) (on social or business occasions). There was a thread here (http://morningbanana.com/community/showthread.php?t=26) on that topic.

Since Hamachi, the guy who started this diet, is a Japanese salaryman, the beer exception was probably due to the fact that he had to drink with his coworkers after work, not for any weight loss reasons!

My opinion is that the severe beverage limits (water only, room temperature only) help make the diet work because it's just easier to overeat when you're drinking liquid with your food, and frankly, room temperature water is not something that you will want to drink too much of (although they say you will grow to love the taste of it). But Hamachi and his wife have various supposely metabolic explanations for why you shouldn't drink anything but water even outside of mealtimes.
