One of the reasons why I love the Morning Banana diet is because its cheap so along with the Morning Banana Diet, I have been on the Water Cure program.
The water cure doesn't interfer with the Morning Diet at all and it has overall made me a healthier person. The water cure is a program where you drink half your body weight in ounces of water.
So if you weigh 160 then you would drink 80 ounces of water along with a small dash of sea salt. People claim that this program can cure a lot of illnesses and diseases.
The best thing about the water cure is that its close to free.

Here is a diet somewhat similar.. I know I started to feel sick the first day! It is also called The Lemonade Diet. I saw someone else refer to the Lemon Diet in another part of this forum, and I wonder if this was the one they were talking about. This diet is not one that I would recommend, since it is so drastic, and there have been reports of death and dehibilitating injuries linked to the use of this diet. I do have a friend (she is a tribal medicine woman) who recommends a 10 day fruit diet she uses from some book published in the 70's. The fruit is consumed in a certain order, and used for both detoxing and weight loss. I thought I might be able to find it on-line, but no luck as of yet. I may need to borrow it so I can lay the plan out and will share it. BTW.. I love the taste of Senna Tea (Smoothe Move), and recommend it to anyone that has any problems with delayed elimination (another peoven cause of weight gain).
Rid your body of all toxins and disease. Eliminate all waste from your body
by using the following recipe from 10 up to 40 days. Nothing else may be eaten. Mint tea may also be used. As well as water.
Master Cleanser...
6 juiced limes (or lemons)
1tsp cayenne pepper
¾ cup maple syrup
100 oz of water
Makes a 2 day supply.
Drink (smooth move liquorish or chocolate) laxative tea morning and night.
[2 tspns sea salt mixed on stove with 4 cups water, drink hot like chicken soup one morning in beginning of cleanse. note, be prepared to be near a toilet all day.]
Drink Master Cleanser exclusively until the white on your tongue returns to a natural pink color.
Sea salt baths are an absolute delight, and an additional way to remove even more toxins...
Then on final 3 days orange juice and vegetable soup, to get you ready to resume solid foods...
Some people do this cleanse a few times a year. It is considered a fast, as you will not eat any food. The nutrition in the recipe is enough to sustain you. Some people continue on with this drink for breakfast, as a way to maintain proper health balance.

BananaGurl is in the process of relocating to the U.S. but I can tell you that Dr. Batmanghelidj wrote a slew of books on his ideas. You can look on Amazon for them, or read his bio on Wikipedia.
But recently the whole 8 glasses of water advice has been somewhat discredited.

Here is a link that will take you to the water cure. It has all the free info you need so you wouldnt have to go out and buy a book.
I am always looking for low and cost effective ways of staying healthy so stuff like the Morning Banana Diet and the Water Cure are at the top of my list.

I can attest to to the fact that water therapy works and outside of taking precaution to avoid water poisoning, which can cause changes in brain activity and even coma or death - but ONLY if large amounts of water are ingested all at once and fast.... I have reaped many benefits from drinking water (room temp or warm) especially upon rising to manage my IBSC (irritable bowel syndrome with constipation) and intestinal spasms. I drink throughout the day as well and it seems that my body is very receptive and benefits tremendously from being kept hydrated. Everything including my mood is better.

That's alot of water I have to drink, lol. I have cut myself back from a pot or two of coffee a day to one cup of coffee per day. Granted there are times I may go for coffee with a friend, but I was able to replace water for the othe umpteen cup through out the day.

Folks, I'v heard of this drink lots of water concept before. The main concern I have with doing something like that is its effect on your organs. I'm not an expert or a doctor, but drinking excessive amounts of water is going to be putting a strain on all the parts of your body that deal with evacuating it.

In my two years of practicing the water cure, I have not had any problems or felt like there was a strain on my organs for drinking the required amount of water for the water cure. Now to be fair I did hear of this lady in California who died during a radio show when they were trying to see who could drink the most water. The woman's insides literally went kapow. But that was extreme and she chugged down gallons for a stupid bet and lost her life. Anyways back to the point, most people are dehydrated but they dont know it . I think that just starting with 8 glasses of water (lukewarm if you are doing the morning banana diet) would be a great start. And of course if you chug it all at once you would put a strain on your body.

In India, we always have our mother telling us that drinking lots of water, cleanses your body and removes illness from your body. I never knew that it had so much dept in it , untill I read your post. I am going to do the same thing as you now.

We are not supposed to sit down and consume a gallon of water in one sitting, but through-out the day so you body and organs get replenished on a continued basis.

I love lots of water! I drink loads of it everyday. And yes, I do agree! Drinking water is really a healthy habit, and drinking water helps you lose a lot of weight too..without putting in a lot of effort.

Hi I am 19 years old and this is my first diet, I was wondering how much weight you can loose with this Water cure diet plan? and can you continue the morning banana & Water cure together? and what types of exercise I should do to get optimum result from these two diet plans?

I went through some of the posts here since I last posted. I agree totally with BananaGirl.. drinking more water along with another diet is good for you. But instead of considering it a diet, maybe look at it as a lifestyle change. One reason that people have trouble with weight is because we allow our blood sugars to fluctuate, and research has proven that it is healthier to eat 6 'mini-meals' a day than to eat 3 large meals. Also, total fasting can throw the body into a 'starvation response' which signals the body to conserve calories from food and makes it harder to lose weight. The water helps cleanse your body of toxins. The main reason people can die from drinking loads of water at one sitting (it would have to be LOADS of water!), is because you would be throwing off the electrolytes in your body. Drinking a glass of water (12-16 oz) 30 minutes before a meal will help you eat less.
Exercise is important, too, and should be a mix of cardio and weights. Muscle burns more calories than fat. The plan should be individualized into a program that you will be able and willing to maintain, starting gradually and working up to a target time and maintaining a target heart rate for 20 - 30 minutes. Personally, I think walking is one of the best forms of exercise.. not at a leisurely rate, but pushing your body to maintain a steady pace and maintaining a target rate.. gradually increasing the time. I am a rather busy person, and implemented ankle and wrist weights into my walking routine in an effort to get twice the work-out in half the time. Exercise increases the body's endorphins.. just remember to start small and gradually increase.. If you are under the assumption that if you push yourself harder at first.. wanting a 'quick fix', you will be disappointed, since all you will end up with are sore muscles and a decreased likelihood of continuing a regular regimen. I got hooked on the endorphins, and had implemented and maintained this routine daily for a few years before my divorce. Stretching is important, too, though it is hard to describe the stretches I still do on a daily basis.. it helps with blood and lymphatic flow.
I have also been reading about the importance of meditation to alleviate stress, which is another component in weight gain.. because stress produces 'cortisol' which in turn causes weight gain. Getting 7-8 hours of sleep each night helps, too.
The above was what I practiced daily, and need to return to my schedule.. I have 20 lbs I put on by inactivity the past few years. BTW.. I am an ICU RN, but am not offering this advice medically, I am just telling you what has worked in the past for me, and what some of the recent research has uncovered. As always advised, consult your own health care provider before implementing a new exercise routine or diet, especially if you are extremely overweight, have a pre-existing medical condition, have had sudden weight gain and generalized feeling of 'not feeling right', or if you are over a certain age.. I cannot remember the age.. especially since I keep hearing the 'new ages'.. I am over 50, and my kids keep telling me '50s are the new 30's'.. and.. I am extremely healthy and look younger than my years. (I have had people mistake my sons as my date or my husband a few times). They were offended.. but I wasn't.. hehe
Good luck, and thank you to whoever started this forum! It is a reminder that I need to re-start taking control of my health once again. Happy New Year! Tina
