Hi guys! I'm new here and well...

..I started the diet on Monday, and when I checked my weight this morning I noticed that my weight has gone up a little....

Am I doing something wrong?

These were my previous habits before starting the diet:

Breakfast [7:50]: Special K cereal with milk.
Morning Snack [10.15]: A slice of sweet loaf and an occasional apple.
Lunch [1.15]: White bread with cheese.
Afternoon Snack [Anytime Between 4.00 - 6.30]: Anything from chocolate to biscuits, to crackers and those sorts of things.
Dinner [Always sometime after 8pm and as late as 9.30]: Basmati rice with things like lentils, beans, etc. But it's always been with rice.
Desert: 94% fat free yogurt about five or ten mins before bed.
Bedtime: 10.45 or later.
Exercise: - Australian Calisthenics every Monday.
- Shopping on the weekend *cough...*
- Walking from class to class at school?

 ... Jee, what bad habits I had! And my dad would always tell me I didn't eat enough? Pfft!

Now here's what I've been doing so far this week:

Breakfast[7.50]: Two bananas with water.
Morning Snack[10.15]: An apple (is that okay??)
Lunch[1.15]: Multigrain sandwich with ham, cheese and lettuce.
Afternoon Snack [4.30]: Monday: A piece of chocolate; Yesterday: An apple.
Dinner [7.30 is the latest.]: Heinz Soup (big and chunky; 99% fat free, or so it says.) with two slices of multigrain (thanks to my annoying dad who thinks I'm starving myself, not having bread tonight whether he likes it or not.)
Desert: None :D
Exercise: - Calisthenics on Monday
- A walk of about 20 mins from the bus stop to my house [every school day]
- Stretches everyday when possible e.g. working on standing splits, floor splits, back bends etc, etc.
- Walking from class to class at school?
- Shopping on the weekend >.>;
Bedtime: 11pm or later.

This is kinda hard with school and all, but I think I'll manage... However I can't change my lunch times etc without making a trip to the principal's office
I'd probably have my snack at 3 but I'd probably get kicked out of my by whichever teacher I have at the time xD
And I would avoid catching the bus, but I live a bit far from my school so if I walked from school back to my place I'd probably take two hours or something, and that's two hours lost of homework + assignment time! I can't really have that, now can I? Being a high school student and all... ._.;
So yeah, I don't know what I'm doing wrong :(
I've gained a little weight and I'm not sure if it's bloating as someone said in another thread/post that I read earlier... Or if it has something to do with the soup, and I'm pretty sure that soup has less fat than rice... but if I'm wrong, please let me know - I'm no genius when it comes to nutrition facts and the sort.. plus it might be the bread, I know I should be having wholemeal instead of multgrain but I really, really, hate wholemeal.
My weight is reaaaallyyy affecting my self-esteem.
So, if someone could help me out it would be very much appreciated ^-^

Ok, first off, you didn't "need to go on a diet" because you were already on one. Assuming the portions of what you describe are reasonable that is. Think about it -- if you forget for a minute the banana itself and substitute instead "a small low-calorie low-fat breakfast", the only other thing you're doing that's not on the MB diet is the yogurt at night. In fact you'e exercising and eating healthier than the diet describes and exercising a bit besides, so I think you were ahead. The MB diet is unlikely to benefit you much beyond what you're doing, IMHO. The banana component I dont' belive is especially magical, it's just something that makes you feel full and is very very healthy.

That said, your observance of the banana diet is fine also I see nothing you're doing "wrong" and as such it would help you lose weight if you were overweight -- just as your diet previous would have.

So, what's really happening here? Give us some numbers, height, weight, age, target, amount of weight gain. I have a theory, but I need the numbers before we discuss it. We don't know who you are, so please be honest, and we'll be honest right back, ok?

Lol, the portions weren't always reasonable.. :s
So, it wasn't quite a diet, that's my opinion, anyway.
I'm 15, 5'5", and when I weighed myself this morning I had put on 3 kg... So now I'm 74 kg, or 162 lbs.. My target is to get to 133 lbs.

Soup is really high in sodium. You may be retaining water due to the soup.

Oops, if it's the case then I hope the water retention is temporary...
Anyway, so should I cut out the soup from my diet? Or only make soups myself instead of buying them? Maybe the rice would be a better solution, however the amount of starch does worry me....

And thanks, you've been helpful so far. ^^

I guess you can make your own - try using Mrs. Dash instead of salt - I've noticed even Healthy Choice soups are loaded with salt.

It's a dirty secret -- if it's low in fat and calories, it's high in salt. Where else can the flavor come from?

To answer the original questions, truly it sounds like you're eating the right things. Just focus now on the portions. The only things you can go crazy on are things like raw veggies (without dressing) and raw fruits, otherwise portion is the main thing.

It's very simple, if you take in less calories than you burn, you'll lose weight as your body turns to fat and muscle reserves to burn for fuel.

Where you lose the weight and what the health effect of it is on your body, is controlled by what sort of calories you take in. IE calories from fat vs complex carbs vs simple carbs vs protein etc.

Also though, keep in mind that your body weight flunctuates day to day, heck, even during one day alone!
Oh and- (Warning: any guys in here who don't like hearing about the monthly crimson, stay away.) is your period near or are you on it? As that will add bloating like nobody's business! -___-' Add your period into the mix and you'll get double the amount of bloating from stuff. Boooo.

The only way you can put on 3 kg in one night is if you've eaten 14,000 worth of calories in 24 hours. I'm assuming you're not eating like Michael Phelps, so I agree, it's just all the water weight from the soup.
