View Full Version : How do you deal with cravings?

My main thing, when I'm hungry, is to sip at (black) coffee. It gives your stomach something to think about. If it's late evening, I drink a large glass of water.

If that doesn't work, I sometimes use flavoured rice cakes, they hold you about an hour.

A medium bowl of multigrain cheerios with just enough milk to get it wet if you stir it up (ie, none is left at the bottom when you get there) and a banana cut up on top will tide you over for many hours. Even eating this late-ish at night seems not to upset the diet's progress. Whereas just about anything else late at night does gain weight immediately.

Mid-day, peanut butter on whole grain triscuits. Kinda high fat, but overall healthy. Just not too many. But sooo yummy.

To lose weight, you have to get used to being hungry, sometimes. You just do. That's when your body consumes fat. But don't push it or you'll engage your body's starvation responses.

Mostly I snack on melons, oranges, and canned fruit (in water).

Strickly nothing but water and black coffee to drink, ever. No fries or potato chips or chocolate, except in the tiniest quantities when you're desperate. Aim for 2-4 grams of fat based on the labelling and no more than once every few days.

I'm down 35-40 pounds in 7 months.

How can you tell the difference between letting yourself be hungry and starvation response? Both happen due to not eating something.

The hunger scale is explained here:

Try to stay between 3 and 7. Don't starve and don't stuff.

but isn't it that when u let yourself get hungry, your metabolism slows also?-meaning your body stores fat rather than burning it..
