The banana diet (and, with some common sense, any dietary recommendation) emphasizes "normal" portion sizes. I've always wondered what's considered normal when it comes to sushi and gyoza - how many rolls/dumplings should one eat (if it's the centrepiece of a meal, no staple foods or side-dishes)? It depends on the size, but is there any general guideline?

Hey there,

I know what you are talking about when it comes to the Sushi portions. Just think about it.. when you are in the rotating sushi bar, the average calories for one plate of sushi (two) is about 110 calories. So usually people on a diet would watch themselves before going over 5 plates. I noticed when watching japanese girls who always are careful about their intake, they eat no more than six plates of sushi with green tea.

Gyoza is good but sorta like junkfood... the calories are much higher... like for 6 gyouza it was about 350 calories for me lol

In america, the sushi is bigger than the sushi that I have seen in japan. Just divide the american serving of sushi in half.

It depends on what kind of sushi...

Like the pure original sushi..rice, seaweed, raw fish, cucumber... yea like as if thats gunna b 110 calories -.- over my dead body..it's more like 50 lol

If it's those excuse for sushi..u know going to a fast food restuarant that calls it sushi with hindu ppl making them...yea no offence but the chances are that's not sushi =.= Fried fish in rice with added sugar etc...that's more like junk food if u ask me.

Gyoza depends too, but either way the frying realli adds up on carbs.

Just something to keep in mind ^_^
