Morning breakfast: after the 1, 2 bananas and water in the morning, after half hour can I have normal breakfast? such, soya milk, tea coffee , some bread or cereal ect? no sweet of course, and at lunch time can I eat some pasta or bread and vegetable? I'm fully vegeterian and is very difficult for me to lose weight as I eat a lot of carbohydrateand small amount of protein .well also on web the diet is not to clear during the day no need to eat other bananas?

bananas are just for morning to jump start the metabolism I presume. whatever it is you eat during the day, you may want to cut down on the portions little by little.

As you are a vegetarinian the big problem is that you must be eating a lot of veggies.Actually even if you don't eat a lot of veggies the fact that you have only veggies during the whole day(main course mealis what I mean) makes up for the weight. I am telling this because my borther eats a lot of veggies himslef instead of being a non-veg and he is about 110 pounds instead of being a 12 year old kid. reduce the veggies and trya little exercising apart from MBD.

Pasta bread and all that you don't need to worry about, those are allowed. Depending on which version of the diet you follow you will or will not be allowed to eat 30 min after. The original version says 15-30 min after you may have something other than water to drink, ther version on this site says 15-30 min later you may eat some thing else if you are hungry. If you do eat I wouldn't eat a full sized breakfast try to cut back, afterall you just ate 2 bananas right? This diet is great if you do it properly (I've lost 3.5kg since starting at the beginning of Nov.; but bananas aren't magic all on their own. The version I'm doing is the original version that most people here in Japan are doing. If you have any questions feel free to ask me ^^

The history is all on this site if you want more detail. But basically it started in Japan, created by a pharmacist for her husband. The husband then brought it to the social networking site Mixi. But the thing that made it famous was a tv show about an opera singer here who did the diet and lost weight.

Hey thanks for the update I had a completely different idea. In ever thought this thing was so old. I even thought that this diet originated in america. I thought it was just a co-incidence that Japan also had a MoBa.

Angee, all you need is to give a little time for the bananas to start releasing resistant starch in your stomach, then of course you can eat something else if you feel hungry, just try going for something healthy if you want to lose weight quickly :)

The rules page (http://morningbanana.com/morning-banana-diet-rules) tries to distinguish between the Japan diet and the diet as it is evolving in the West and point out what is what. But there really is no absolutely orthodox Japanese version.
There is the version that the guy's wife came up with originally, as reported by him on Mixi and in later books and articles, along with the practices that the Japanese guy did in addition to what his wife said. Then there are the various additions and interpretations he came up with on Mixi. Many of these are included in his first book. Then there is the second book. And there's a mook he cooperated with. There have been television appearances and newspaper interviews. So there are different "versions." The diet keeps changing and evolving even from him. For instance, during the recent banana shortage he came out and essentially endorsed using any fruit at all, not just bananas. Previously he said bananas were much better than other fruits for various reasons.
And then there are all kinds of forks of the diet, especially on Mixi, where most of the people have abandoned the original forum and stared new forums (this is because the originator shut off his Mixi activities and stopped approving new people for his forum when he started to commercialize the diet -- he's quit his job and is working on things like licensing the diet to Nintendo for a video game in Japan!?).
And you have to remember that the diet is not necessarily what the Japanese promoters say it is, since there is a cultural context. A Japanese may not find it necessary to point out that you shouldn't eat a ton of this or that that nobody eats anyway in Japan. So it's more a question of figuring out what people are actually doing, rather than what they say they're doing or think they're doing, and determining how important and relevant the actual practices are to weight loss. And that process is the purpose of this forum.

I started the diet this week Monday 1/12/09 and already I can tell the difference. I do go to the gym ay least 3 morning aweek to get 1.5 mile run in and I come home have my banana before heading to work, I'm not a big eatter but I'm not hungry until around 11:30 -12:00 noon, so this tells me that my metabolisum(sp:confused:) is working and about every 4 hours I need to eat. I bring my lunch to work and I pack small portions and I try to have a piece of fruit in it to have as a snack for mid morning or late afternoon. I can really feel a difference, I do not own a set of scales, I'm soley going off the way I look and feel in my clothing, and today is Jean Day at work and my Jeans are looking pretty good on me today.:) I want to jump start my summer weight loss and if I can get 15-20 lbs off before the Spring I will well on my way to having the summer body I want, I'm determined to get there and this diet seems to be the one for me I do not want to start taking some over the counter supplement to get the weigth off. This one for me I feel it already!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
